Firstly, the French School of Seoul welcomes children of French nationality so as to provide a continuity of French public education for expatriated families.
According to the available places, the French school also opens its doors to children of the host country as well as the children of other nationalities who stand benefit from a French education..
French pupils (58 % in 2009) : Native French students coming from the French educational system (public institutions, accredited private institutions and those that are part of the network of French schools abroad) are automatically allowed where the administrative and financial conditions are fulfilled and within the limits of the available places. The pupils from non-accredited private institutions may apply for admission subject to an entrance test.
Korean pupils (18 % in 2009) : the Korean students who fulfill the conditions of entry as defined by the local regulations (presidential decree of 28/02/2009) may be admitted into the French School of Seoul. Students who have resided a duration of at least 3 years abroad or who are holders of a third nationality and who have one parent who is not Korean may be admitted under the conditions of the French School of Seoul. If the student comes from the French educational system or from the network of the French schools abroad they may be admitted, within the limits of the available places, without an entrance test. If the student is from 5 to 10 years old and not French-speaking he or she may be admitted within the limits of the available places, into the French immersion class (an intensive French-language class comprised of a maximum of 15 students of varying ages). This admission is based on the conditions of a contract between the French School of Seoul and the family of the child that aims to establish the necessary implications of each party so as to facilitate the integration and the success of the student. The duration of schooling within the immersion program will not exceed one year, an assessment will be made every three months by the teaching staff and that alone will decide on the passage into the regular class program. Prospective students who do not fulfill the conditions for admission or non French-speaking children above 10 years of age will on no account be offered admission.
Students of other nationalities (24 % in 2009, 18 different nationalities): based on the number of places available, native French-speakers coming from the French educational system or the network of the French schools abroad will be admitted without an entrance test. Other French-speaking students may be admitted subject to an entrance test. If the student is from 5 to 10 years old and not French-speaking he or she may be admitted within the limits of the available places, into the French immersion class (an intensive French-language class comprised of a maximum of 15 students of varying ages).
