France Seorae Project

Initiated by the Council of High School Life (CVL) in 2015 and recognized as one of the initiatives of the France-Korea Year event, the France Seorae project aims to share aspects of the French culture with residents of the Seorae Maeul neighborhood.

France Seorae features two complementary parts whose underlying objective is to thank the Korean population:

  • the organization of activities in connection with French culture,
  • the addition of street furniture to give a French touch to the LFS neighborhood.

Many students took turns collaborating with the Korean state authorities, local shops, the French Institute, the French Embassy in Korea, and of course the LFS community to create various projects and contribute to a lively neighborhood.

LFS wishes to thank its partners and donors who have generously contributed to the success of the France Seorae project.

2016

Organization of 4 concerts and exhibitions by artists from the French community in the neighborhood

Unveiling in Seorae Maeul of Parisian-style street signs by Mrs. CHO Eun-hee, Mayor of the Seocho district, and Mr. Fabien PENONE, Ambassador of France.

2017

Unveiling in Seorae Maeul of the “silhouette” street signs attended by Mrs. Conway-Mouret, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of French citizens living abroad.

Launch of the Virtual Museum of French Culture of Seorae Maeul: find the location of the 30 street signs on the MyMap application. Open it to access images, texts and informative videos. The students also created a “Seorae Street Sign” quiz in French with prizes to win!

The Virtual Museum was inaugurated by the students of Cheorwon High School, who, armed with their cell phones and guided by the students of the LFS, walked through the neighborhood in search of the signs.

2019

Installation in Seorae Maeul of a Morris column and lamp posts in the pure Parisian style. This long-term project was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Seocho Town Hall, the French Embassy in Korea and the LFS.
