Summer Camp 2023

Introduction


The French School of Seoul (LFS) is proud to announce our “Summer Camp” in July 2023. Our aim is to improve the child’s language competencies in English and/or French. The camp is open for both LFS students and external students of age 3 to 11 (born between Jan. 2012 to Dec. 2019).

The summer camp may be canceled or its organization may be modified, depending on the COVID-19 situation and measures given by the Korean government.

Camp Period

  • July 6 to 14 2023 (7 days)

Registration Period

  • LFS Students: May 8 @10:00 p.m. – May 10 @11:50 p.m.
  • External Students : May 17 @9:00 a.m. – May 22 @9:00 a.m.
  • Final decision date : June 5 (results published in this webpage)

Morning language class

  • The morning session (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) will include activities to develop the child’s oral and written expression, helping to expand their vocabulary. Three types of sessions are offered in the morning: (1) French class, (2) English class and (3) FLE (French for beginners) class.
    • The choice of programs is made at the moment of registration
    • Only one language of study, concerning the morning activities, must be chosen for the total duration of the two weeks (French or English).

Lunch time

  • French-style Lunch (12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.) is provided at the LFS cafeteria, served by CJ Freshway
    • Students with food allergies cannot eat the food served at LFS. These students must bring their personal lunch box.

Afternoon activities

  • The afternoon activities (1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.) will reinforce language and concepts previously learned through artistic, sports and cultural activities.
    • The children will be able to decide each day if they wish to participate in the French or English language workshops organized in the second part of the day.

Requirement

  • Age: from age 3 to 11 (born between 2012 to 2019), from PS to CM2
    • LFS students follow the current grade of the 2022-2023 school year.
    • For your convenience, please check the grade-age equivalence chart above so that you know in which grade your child belongs to in the French system! Grade depends on the child’s Year of Birth.
      • E.j. Children born between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2014 belongs in the CE2 class
  • Language competencies:
    • Morning French & English class
      • We accept students from all levels in French or English competencies, from beginner to advanced, however, in order for the child to communicate with our native teachers and to follow instructions, a minimal level of language is strongly advised.
    • Morning FLE class
      • FLE (French as Foreign Language) class is for students with no to little competencies in French, taught by a specialized and trained FLE teacher. No level of French is required.
  • Both current LFS students and external students* are welcome to register!
    • *External students are (1) students from another school and (2) students registered to enter LFS in September 2023, for the 2023-2024 Academic year

Registration Process

  1. Register through the method corresponding to your situation, during the registration period
    • LFS Student via EDUKA (instructions below, under “Registration Methods”)
    • External students via this online form
  2. If your child’s application is successfully validated and his or her name appears on the list of final decisions (June 5), you will then receive an invoice for the summer camp fees, including payment terms.
  3. The payment must be made before the deadline indicated on the invoice
  4. You will receive a confirmation email once the LFS team has verified the payment. In June, you will receive via email:
    • Practical information and important contacts
    • a medical form to fill out, and a list of documents to provide (vaccination certificates, Third-party liability insurance), then to be sent back to the school before the start of summer camp.
      • We draw your attention to the fact that children cannot be welcomed to the camp without these documents.

Registration Method for LFS students

  1. Log in to your EDUKA account
  2. Click the “Summer camp” button on the main portal page.
  3. Fill out the registration form, as the same way you register for the extracurricular activities (AES)
    • Deadline: May 10 at 22:00

Registration Method for External students

  1. Fill out the online registration form (click hyperlink or button above)
  2. If your child’s name is listed on the final decision document (announced on the website), an EDUKA account under the email address you gave us will be created by the LFS. With the EDUKA platform, we will be invoicing you the fee regarding the summer camp

Price

  • 470,000 KRW — for students currently enrolled in the LFS (for the 2022-2023 Academic Year)

  • 630,000 KRW — for external students (non-LFS students or incoming students for 2023-2024 Academic year in Sept. 2023)

  • Attention! Only the full payment made before the deadline indicated on the invoice allows you to officially validate your registration of the Summer Camp – without any payment before the deadline, your registration will be automatically canceled.

Cancellation

  • If you cancel the registration after the payment, 50% of the amount paid will be refunded. Once the camp starts, no reimbursement can be made.

Important notice  

  • If the development of the coronavirus health crisis makes it impossible for the school to operate during the scheduled summer camp period, families will be fully reimbursed for canceled days.
