Since 2009, Lycée Français de Séoul (LFS) has been a certified examination center for Cambridge Assessment English exams for both its own students and external candidates.
Internationally recognized by both higher education and corporate institutions, Cambridge English Qualifications: General English and Higher Education exams provide students and adults alike with certified evidence of their proficiency and communication skills in English. Cambridge English Qualifications cover 4 examinations based on the age and skills of the candidates, with results valid indefinitely. These exams developed and managed by Cambridge Assessment English, a department of the University of Cambridge, are made available worldwide through a network of 2800 examination centers in 130 countries.
Practical INFORMATION
The exam fees are entirely covered by the school for CM2, 3ème and Terminale students at LFS.
Students from other classes as well as external candidates may register for an exam by completing the online registration form here (LINK) and paying the corresponding exam fee.
All middle and high school students at LFS benefit from training classes organized outside of school hours on Saturday mornings.
Please note that LFS does not provide training classes for external candidates.
Two exam sessions are organized at LFS:
- the first one in December : FCE & CAE
- the second one in May / June : KETfs, PETfs, FCEfs

A2 KEY for Schools (KETfs)
As the first level in Cambridge exams, A2 Key certifies a student has the basic knowledge of English required for communication in everyday life. The A2 level is expected in 6ème.
Exam format :
- Reading and Writing: 1 hour
- Listening: about 30 minutes
- Speaking: 8 to 10 minutes per pair of candidates
KET for schools (A2) for LFS and external students:

B1 PRELIMINARY for Schools (PETfs)
The second qualification B1 Preliminary corresponds to an intermediate level in English and tests the candidates’ ability to handle written and oral communications in everyday life. The B1 level is expected at the end of middle school.
Exam format:
- Reading: 45 minutes
- Writing: 45 minutes
- Listening: about 30 minutes
- Speaking: 12 – 17 minutes per pair of candidates
Preliminary for schools (B1) for LFS and external students:

B2
B2 FIRST (FCE)
B2 First is an upper intermediate language qualification for those who wish to communicate fluently and work or study in an English-speaking country. The B2 level is expected at the end of Terminale.

- Writing: 1 hour 20 minutes
- Listening: about 40 minutes
- Speaking: 14 minutes per pair of candidates

C1 Advanced (CAE)
C1 Advanced is for effective and flexible language users who are able to grasp the implicit meaning of long and demanding texts, express themselves with ease and confidence and tackle complex subjects in a clear, structured and detailed manner.

- Reading and Use of English: 1 hour 30 minutes
- Writing: 1 hour 30 minutes
- Listening: about 40 minutes
- Speaking: 15 minutes per pair of candidates
CAE (C1) for LFS and external students aged 16+ as well as adults:
