A RENOVATED CAMPUS WITH AWARD-WINNING ARCHITECTURE

LFS campus was recently renovated in 2019 with the construction of a new building named Deoksan and the renovation of earlier premises..

Inspired by the works of Matisse, the modern and eye-catching design work of architect David-Pierre Jalicon was awarded the prize for the most beautiful building in the Seocho district in 2019.

Special attention has been brought to the use of natural light, flowing circulation of students and integrated air purifying / conditioning / heating systems, allowing for air to be constantly purified and delivered at the right temperature in classrooms, corridors and all common areas of the new building.

With this extension, the students benefit from 11 additional classrooms, 500m2 dedicated to the bright and spacious Primary (BCD) and Secondary School (CDI) Libraries, a dining hall adapted to student needs as well as a fully equipped new 236m2 gymnasium.

This major work has largely been funded by contributions from parents and school funds accumulated over several years, but also thanks to significant donations and subsidies from several private companies and the AEFE. More information about our donors at Friends of LFS.

SPACES SUITABLE FOR EACH AGE

Renovation works have generated new traffic flows around dedicated spaces adapted to different ages

Kindergarten students enjoy a dedicated entrance to the Asan building, a specifically designed playground and tailored work spaces: 4 classrooms, a nap/motor skills room and toddler-sized toilets. The children benefit from games and spaces adapted to their needs and development while direct access to classrooms is made easy for parents to drop off and pick up their children.

The new Deoksan building hosts 2 playgrounds and welcomes elementary school students in modern and spacious air-purified classrooms spread over 3 floors distributed around a central staircase. A dedicated library for reading and research activities, also available for students during recess time, completes the educational offer.

Middle and high school students also have their own building, commonly called Kaewhasan, with almost 18 rooms spread over 3 levels. Kaewhasan was renovated and a Fab Lab with 24 computer stations, a technological design area and 3D printers inaugurated in 2019. Along with a dedicated arts room and two fully equipped science rooms, students also benefit from a rooftop sports field and a student lounge. Several clubs have been created in recent years for secondary school students to enhance their skills or discover new activities such as photography, chess and video editing.

The architect located the canteen and both libraries at the center of the different buildings for quick and fluid access to these key spaces from all areas of the school.

LOCATED IN THE HEART OF THE FRENCH COMMUNITY

LFS stands at the center of the French neighborhood “Seorae Maeul”, right in the heart of Seoul. Most LFS families live close to the school, thereby forming a lively and close-knit community surrounding the school. Neighborhood shops, restaurants and cultural and sports centers easily accessible on foot or by bicycle cater to parents and children alike.  Families often meet after school in the nearby playgrounds or in the larger Montmartre park.

This residential and diverse neighborhood with a dynamic family atmosphere is very popular with both Koreans and expatriates.

French-speaking associations also play a key role in the well-being of families by providing activities and events to the community throughout the year.
