Middle and high school students who wish to serve the school and its students may join one of the following bodies in place at the Lycée Français de Séoul (LFS).
The Council of High School Life (CVL), an official body established in each French lycée, discusses all practical issues relating to school work and living conditions at LFS.
The Maison Des Lycéens (MDL) is a secondary school association that brings together high school students who wish to get involved in cultural, artistic, sports and humanitarian projects.
Involvement in these bodies enables students to develop autonomy and initiative in their chosen projects. Moreover, the commitment and project management skills developed during this experience are often valued and recognized in university applications.
The Council of High School Life (CVL),
a body dedicated to students
CVL consists of
- 10 high school students elected for two years by the student body. Half of them are renewed every year.
- 10 staff and parent representatives.
Chaired by the Headmaster, CVL meets three times a year and is consulted on a wide range of issues:
- the general principles of the organization of studies and school hours,
- the school project and internal rules,
- catering, health, hygiene and security issues,
- general rules pertaining to the organization of personal work, student support and tutoring,
- language and cultural exchange programs with other schools, and the organization of sports, cultural and extracurricular activities,
- information related to university guidance, school and university studies, professional careers and support in changing paths,
- the layout of spaces intended for high school life,
- the training of student delegates,
- the conditions of use of high school funds.
In 2015, CVL initiated the France Seorae project as part of the France – Korea Year celebrations, in order to promote the French culture in the Seorae Maeul neighborhood. More on this collaborative project here.
La Maison Des Lycéens, a dynamic driving force
The Maison Des Lycéens (MDL) is open to all middle and high school students.
This association participates in the development of the school’s cultural life and gives students the opportunity to get involved in projects, to enhance their autonomy and to take on major responsibilities.
Its members elect 3 high school students to manage the MDL respectively as president, secretary and treasurer.
Lieu d’apprentissage et d’exercices de la responsabilité, de nombreuses initiatives ont vu le jour ces dernières années :
- design of a tote bag,
- production and sale of sweat-shirts sporting LFS colors,,
- promotion of « Cinema at the lycée »,
- sale of chocolates and roses for Valentine’s Day,,
- organization of sports competitions and visits of artists at school..
The MDL can also initiate exhibitions, cultural trips and projects in support of major humanitarian causes in partnership with associations and organizations in the social and cultural field.
